This scored VCE VET course is designed to introduce students to the theories and practices necessary to enhance future study and employment in the furnishing industry. Year 10 English and Maths is a requirement.
This course is offered at Cranbourne Secondary College on Tuesdays 12.30-5pm and Chisholm Dandenong or Frankston on Wednesdays 1:00– 6:00pm
Possible Career/Further Study Pathways
Completion of this course may lead to apprenticeship courses in Cabinet making, Wood machining, Upholstery and Furniture finishing (polishing).
Work Placement Requirements
80 hours recommended but not mandatory.
Special comments about delivery of the program
Equipment/PPE= Sleeveless overalls (beige), long or short sleeved shirt under overalls, safety work boots, ear muffs (AS/NZS 1269.3 class 5+, safety glasses AS/NZS 1337) Students with long hair must restrain the hair with a suitable tie.
The aims of the program are to provide students with the knowledge and skills to achieve units of competence that will enhance their employment prospects in the furnishing industry. Students are required to purchase the correct clothing and equipment.
For VCE students, a study score is available (allowing students to count this subject in their primary four subjects for the purposes of ATAR calculation). This study score can contribute directly to the primary four or as a fifth or sixth study.
