Special comments about delivery of the program
This is a stream of building that is experiencing skills shortages. Employment prospects are very strong in bricklaying. Please note: the general Building and Construction course is extremely popular and places usually do not meet demand. On successful completion of the program, students have achieved approximately two-thirds of the pre-apprenticeship certificate. Students wishing to complete the entire pre-apprenticeship certificate need to undertake modules beyond the requirements of the VCE VET program. Students will be provided with a Statement of Attainment. Students will be required to purchase the appropriate clothing and equipment i.e. sleeveless overalls (beige) or pants – no shorts – capped safety boots, lined notepad/workbook, pens, pencils.
For VCE students, this program does not have a study score, but does count as a 3/4 sequence and students may be eligible to gain an ATAR increment (10% of the lowest study score of the primary four studies). Please note that this course cannot be counted in the student’s primary four studies for ATAR calculation.
