Senior School News
Formal
Last Thursday night, our Year 12 Formal at Settlers Run was a truly memorable celebration, with 106 students in attendance. It was wonderful to see everyone looking so elegant and confident—although for some, their shoes didn’t quite last the distance and were abandoned well before the end of the night!
We are incredibly grateful to the staff who attended and helped make the evening so enjoyable. The photobooth was a huge hit, capturing fun memories throughout the night, while the DJ kept the energy high with a wide range of music, including student favourites and popular cultural tracks that had everyone on their feet from 7:30pm until the very end.
The dancefloor was constantly packed, with both students and teachers enthusiastically showing off their moves. There was a strong sense of support and camaraderie, especially in the middle of the dancefloor, where students cheered each other on and celebrated together. The dancing was so energetic that the windows fogged up and many worked up a serious sweat. A fantastic night filled with joy, connection, and lasting memories for all involved.

Year 11 & 12 Assemblies
Over the past few busy weeks, our assemblies have been a highlight. Unfortunately Ms Dang and Ms Vodehro were absent, however Miss Monaghan was wonderfully supported by Year 11 students- Logan and Ayaan. Their preparation, confidence and willingness to present to their peers were impressive and their enthusiasm helped create an engaging and positive atmosphere. They demonstrated strong leadership, teamwork, and accountability, setting a fantastic example for the wider cohort.
For the Year 12 assembly, it was fantastic to have more of the team back and have Year 12 students, Abey and Peka, as co-presenters.
Across both assemblies, we celebrated senior school attendance and our core school values, while reinforcing expectations around respect, correct school uniform, and adherence to the mobile phone and earphone policy. These reminders continue to ensure a safe, focused, and respectful learning environment for all. A special thank you was shared for our Sub School Admin Makayla, whose consistent support for our students was acknowledged.

Exam time!
We are incredibly proud of our Year 12 and Unit 3 & 4 students for the way they approached the essential GAT exam. Students demonstrated maturity and commitment, taking the experience seriously and understanding its importance. Many felt well-prepared following the time teachers dedicated to unpacking the structure of the GAT, providing practice questions, modelling responses and sharing valuable study strategies. This preparation helped build confidence and ensured students were familiar with the expectations of the day.
We also acknowledge the efforts of our senior teachers who went above and beyond to support students in the lead-up, offering encouragement and creating opportunities for meaningful practice. It was pleasing to see students engage positively with this support and approach the exam with a strong mindset.
Finally, we wish our Year 11 VCE students all the very best as they begin their exams. This is an important milestone in their VCE journey, where we encourage them to apply their preparation, remain focused and take pride in their efforts. We are confident that after completing their holiday homework, students will enjoy a well-deserved opportunity to rest and recharge in the second half of the break.
Year 9 City Experience – Ice Skating and Archie Brothers
On Tuesday 16th June, our Year 9 students had their first city experience excursion for the year. They travelled on trains and trams into the city to go ice skating at O’Brien Icehouse and to Archie Brothers for their Arcade. Even though we had a number of falls on the ice, all students showed off their resilience and got back up to skate and enjoy the arcade.

Stay well this winter
Influenza (flu) can be serious, especially for children. Choose to protect yourself and your loved ones with an annual flu vaccine. The earlier you and your family get vaccinated, the better your protection heading into winter.
Keeping our school community well
We encourage parents and carers and students to:
- wash or sanitise your hands thoroughly and regularly, particularly before and after touching your face
- cough or sneeze into your elbow
- stay home if unwell and consult your GP or Nurse-on-Call as needed
- stay up to date with your flu vaccinations.
Flu vaccinations
Flu vaccination is recommended for everyone aged 6 months and older.
Some people are more at risk of severe illness from flu, especially babies and toddlers. They can get a free vaccination as part of the National Immunisation Program.
You can book a flu vaccine through your GP or pharmacy, or find a flu vaccine near you.
RSV vaccinations for mothers and babies
RSV (respiratory syncytial virus) is a common virus that causes colds and ear infections. In babies, it can cause severe illness like bronchiolitis.
The RSV vaccine is available for pregnant women as part of the National Immunisation Program. In Victoria, eligible babies can also get the RSV vaccine until Wednesday 30 September 2026.
You can speak with your GP or midwife about the vaccine.

Hindi Class Reflection
Reconciliation Week in our Hindi class was a meaningful experience, filled with learning and connection. Students traced their hands as a symbol of unity, embracing the significance of culture and reconciliation. Through song and rhythmic stick tapping, they engaged with Indigenous traditions, deepening their appreciation for shared histories.
They explored the five key aspects of culture—people, place, value, custom, and language—understanding how each shapes identity and community. These activities fostered respect, awareness, and a commitment to reconciliation in everyday life.
A beautiful way to honour the past, celebrate diversity, and move forward together!
