Year 12 Student set to shine at the State School Spectacular
Rebecca Zahra, College Captain of Lyndhurst Secondary College is set to shine when she takes to the big stage next month for the third year running.
Rebecca, 17, is one of 16 principal dancers at this year’s State Schools Spectacular after performing as a principal dancer in 2016 and ensemble dancer in 2015.
Year 12 Lyndhurst Secondary College student Rebecca, who started dancing when she was seven, dreamed as a young girl of becoming a professional dancer. She has since realised her dream and one day hopes to be a fully qualified Myotherapist in her own clinic supporting dancers with muscle therapy and rehabilitation.
She is currently training every Sunday for 7 hours a day but in the lead-up to the event, and during the school holidays will be rehearsing intensively each day for 7 hours a day.
Her training takes place at the Ministry of Dance in North Melbourne where she is being taught by four of Australia’s top choreographers; Deon Nuku, Yvette Lee, Troy Philips and Tarra Papulous. Rebecca has 10 routines on the night, seven of which are in heels. The Victorian State Schools Spectacular is returning to Hisense Arena for two shows on September 16 and will be recorded live for Channel 7. You can still buy tickets for the show on 16th September and it will be broadcast on Channel 7 in December.
More than 3000 students from 200 State Government schools will take part in a range of disciplines, including dance, music, song, puppetry and magic.
Good luck Rebecca, from all your friends and teachers at LSC.
