Student Well-Being

Every student should feel safe, secure and happy in their chosen college environment. Lyndhurst Secondary College endeavours to provide an environment that encourages an education for all students free from the disruption of others.  To achieve this, the college has established a support network to assist students.

The College has divided the school into two sub schools which are looked after by two Sub School Coordinators.  It is the role of the Sub School Coordinators to work with the Team Leaders and Home Group teachers in providing a safe secure environment which enables all students to maximise their potential.

The Core teacher program operates in the junior school (years 7-9) whereby the College tries to minmise the number of teachers associated with a particular cohort of students.  Each student is assigned to a form with a Home Group teacher who is responsible for the well being of all students belonging to that group.  Team Leaders together with individual Home Group teachers identify assist in managing issues which may be affecting student progress.

The school has a Student Welfare Coordinator to assist students in resolving problems of a welfare nature and liaises with external agencies in the role as student advocate. Parents are strongly encouraged to contact the Student Welfare Co-ordinator if they are in any way concerned about the welfare of their son/daughter.

On enrolment, every student purchases a College diary in which College rules are claerly outlined. To complement this code of conduct, all classes are encouraged to establish set guidelines which clearly outline what is expected in the areas of behaviour and academic progress. Such clearly negotiated guidelines enhance the learning process, allowing students joint ownership of the process.
