Principal's Message
Welcome
to our web page. I hope it will provide you with an overview of our
school, and I invite you to explore it and to follow up with any
questions you may have. We are very proud of our school and would value
the opportunity to expand on any information.
Our motto is “Commitment, Excellence and Integrity”.
We place a major emphasis on the continual development of learning and
teaching skills. To ensure maximum opportunities for each student, we
provide a range of experiences that cater for all learning styles. We
recognise that students achieve best when their parents keep in close
contact with teachers and are aware of what is happening at school.
Communication between home and school is very important to us.
In our Middle Years Sub School (years 7,8 & 9) we have a strong
Core Teacher program that sees students placed in Home Groups and
working with a small team of Core Teachers for the majority of their
learning. This program is designed to develop effective professional
relationships between teachers, students and parents. Learning is based
around Multiple Intelligences and integrating areas of study across Key
Learning Areas. We have two highly successful programs specifically
designed to develop our students learning strategies and inquiry-based
skills - these are our Learning to Learn Program at Years 7&8 and
our Inquiry Learning Program at Year 9.
In the Senior Sub School
(years 10,11 and 12) students may elect from a broad range of subject
and program offerings and pathways for students. Many undertake the
traditional VCE and go on to further study at university or TAFE.
Others take up vocational studies through VET programs or the Victorian
Certificate of Applied Learning. Each year 10 student works with our
MIP’s co-ordinator to devise a Managed Individual Pathway for further
study and employment. All senior students undertake a weekly tutorial program designed to provide assistance with study skills and career planning.
At all levels a range of supports are offered, such as homework clubs,
maths help, the literacy and numeracy programs and many more.
