What's Happening

Major Road Works may affect your journey

Thompsons Road weekend closure

Timing: 8pm Friday 2 March to 5am Monday 5 March 2018

Location: Closed in both directions between Merinda Park Boulevard and Marriott Boulevard

Why the closure?

We need to close Thompsons Road in order to temporarily relocate the existing Evans Road roundabout further south. Once this is done, we’ll be able to start works on the new Thompsons Road eastbound lanes as well as works on Evans Road north of Thompsons Road.

What to be aware of:

  • detours will be in place – refer to attached detour map
  • there will be increased traffic on these detour routes
  • access to properties won’t change and businesses will remain open as usual. Access to Marriott Waters Shopping Centre and surrounding businesses will be available via the detour routes
  • pedestrian and cycling paths will be closed on this section of Thompsons Road
  • bus route changes will be in place for the 897 bus. Visit www.ptv.vic.gov.au for more information

If you’re travelling through the area, don’t forget to plan your trip, allow extra time for travel and be alert to changed conditions when Thompsons Road is re-opened.

Evans Road north extended closure

Timing: 8pm Friday 2 March – early July 2018
Closed in both directions between the roundabout at Thompsons Road and Boland Drive

Why the closure?

We need to close this section of Evans Road in order to complete widening works and build the new intersection at Thompsons Road and Evans Road.  Closing the road means we can complete the work as quickly as possible and also separate heavy construction equipment away from traffic, ensuring the safety of our workers and the community

What to be aware of:

·       during the closure, you’ll be able to access Boland Drive, Honeybark Crescent and Gumview Road via the new Merinda Park Boulevard and Marriott Boulevard. Refer to the attached detour map

·       Evans Road south of Thompsons Road will be open to traffic on 5 March 2018 after the roundabout relocation is complete

·       access for pedestrians will mostly be unchanged, except when works impact the footpath. This is expected to be for only short periods and appropriate pedestrian detours will be in place

·       access to properties and businesses won’t change
