A Year 10 level of Maths or higher is recommended. Students will be asked to complete a Maths assessment by Chisholm prior to starting the course. If the student does not obtain a satisfactory score for his/her assessment, they will be strongly urged to consider an alternate VET course. Students also require a suitable electronic device.

This course is offered at Chisholm Berwick, Dandenong and Frankston on Wednesdays and Fridays either 8:00am – 12:00pm or 12:30pm-4:30pm

and Kooweerup Secondary College on a Wednesday (transport provided)

Possible Career/Further Study Pathways

Offers students opportunity to sample the electrical industry and assist students to make career and study decisions. Employment outcomes may include: electronics testing, electronics servicing, electronic maintenance technician, apprenticeship.

Work Placement Requirements

80 hours recommended but not mandatory.

Special comments about delivery of the program

The Electrotechnology course is aligned with the Electrical Pre-apprenticeship course.

Please Note: this is a 2 year course. This course is extremely popular so early application is essential. Entry to this course is not open to Year 10 students as a minimum Year 10 Mathematics pass is required. For Year 11 applicants, placement will be subject to demonstrated understanding of capability in Maths.

To be eligible for selection’ students must attend a compulsory information session.

For VCE students, this program does not have a study score but does count as a 3/4 sequence and students will be eligible to gain an aTAR increment (10% of the lowest study score of the primary four studies) It cannot be counted in the students primary four studies for ATAR calculation.
