Chisholm TAFE is currently reviewing the delivery of this course. Recent changes to its structure may mean that students will only be able to partially complete the qualification while at school or will have to enrol in a 3rd year class if they commenced this course in Year 10. This course also has a compulsory work placement component. The course is offered by Chisholm TAFE at its Berwick campus each Tuesday from 1pm-5pm.

At the time of publication, 2016 VETiS Materials Charges have not been determined. A materials fee of $56 will be required to be paid on course counselling day (plus one way charter bus fare from Lyndhurst SC if enrolled in Tuesday afternoon class at Chisholm). Once materials fees are known, parents will either be reimbursed if overcharged or invoiced for outstanding fees.

Possible Career/Further Study Pathways

May lead to further study at TAFE or other tertiary institutions or traineeship. Employment outcomes may include: Early Childhood Educator Assistant, Au pair, Kindergarten Assistant, Nanny, Family Day Care Carer, Kindergarten Worker.

Work Placement Requirements

Students are required to complete a minimum of 60 hours placement over the course of the program.

Special comments about delivery of the program

This course is particularly suited to students wishing to seek employment working with children in a child care setting.

For VCE students, this program does not have a study score but does count as a 34 sequence, and students will be eligible to gain an ATAR increment (10% of their primary four subjects). Please note that this course cannot be counted in the student’s primary four studies for ATAR calculation.
