Work Placement Requirements

Students are highly recommended to complete a number of days of work placement each year. Training provider will advise. Students may have to complete placement while on school holidays so as to minimise disruption to rest of school program.

Special comments about delivery of the program

This course is extremely popular and places fill quickly. Students are also advised that there is a separate bricklaying stream offered. Other streams of building are experiencing skills shortages.

Employment prospects are very strong in bricklaying. Please note: the general Building and Construction course is extremely popular and places usually do not meet demand. Students will be required to wear the appropriate clothing and equipment i.e. sleeveless overalls (beige) or pants – no shorts – capped safety boots, lined notepad/workbook, pens, pencils, 1 metre folding rule.

For VCE students, this program does not have a study score, but does count as a 3/4 sequence and students may be eligible to gain an ATAR increment (10% of the lowest study score of the primary four studies). Please note that this course cannot be counted in the student’s primary four studies for ATAR calculation.
