This course is offered at Berwick Secondary College on Wednesdays 8.30am-12.30pm for 1st year and 1pm-5pm for 2nd year students.

Possible Career/Further Study Pathways

Completion of this course may lead to further study at TAFE or other tertiary institutes. Possible pathways include: Fashion Designer, Dressmaker, Patternmaker, Milliner and Textiles Technician.

Work Placement Requirements

Determined in consultation with teacher & the RTO.

Special comments about delivery of the program

The aims of the program are to: give students an introductory overview of fashion design, pattern drafting using the flat pattern method and clothing construction skills and assist students with their folio preparation. Students will acquire knowledge of fibre and fabric properties and how they relate to designs and will develop preliminary work plans for simple garments.

For VCE students, this program is not scored. It does qualify for a 3/4 sequence and students are eligible to gain an ATAR increment (10% of the lowest study score of the primary four studies). Please note that this course cannot be counted in the student’s primary four studies for ATAR calculation.
